ARNEG KOREA@ ATMOsphere APAC Summit 2024

Presentation on "Introduction of Korea's First CO₂ Transcritical Cycle Refrigeration System for Retail Stores"

Arneg Korea has announced its participation as a Silver Sponsor in the ATMOsphere APAC Summit 2024, held from the 6th to the 7th in the Conference Center Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan.

The ‘ATMOsphere APAC Summit’ is aimed at demonstrating the viability of the latest natural refrigerant technologies for various applications in the commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning industries, thereby promoting, and accelerating the adoption of natural refrigerant technology in markets across Asia, North America, Europe, and other regions with its focus on environmentally friendly and economically viable solutions.

During the seminar, Gabriele Sernani, head of the Overseas Business Team at Arneg Korea, together with Seungjae Kim, Executive Vice President of Baekyangsa Agricultural Cooperative, represented the group and shared real-user experiences under the topic "Introduction of Korea's First CO₂ Transcritical Cycle Refrigeration System for Retail Stores." They communicated and exchanged ideas on sustainable and economical refrigeration and air conditioning technologies, enhancing collaboration and interaction with participants.

Gabriele Sernani emphasized that CO₂ refrigeration systems, with their excellent refrigeration capabilities and stable performance, can be utilized across various industrial sectors and applications, including food storage and distribution, medical facilities, chemical processes, and cold storage warehouses. Compared to stores currently using R404A, these systems can reduce CO₂ emissions by 55.3 tons annually (equivalent to the amount of CO₂ absorbed by approximately 8,400 thirty-year-old pine trees in one year), highlighting their significance as a solution to environmental issues and the need for widespread adoption and supportive policies for CO₂ refrigeration systems.

Moreover, Arneg Korea's CO₂ refrigeration systems feature a diverse model lineup ranging from 5 to 500kW, utilizing design programs for racks, gas coolers, and unit coolers to ensure optimal installation environments and fresh food storage conditions. They aim to deliver efficiency and reliability for cold chain systems operating 24/7, 365 days a year.

An official from Arneg Korea stated, "To lead in sustainable refrigeration technology, we are continuously developing a wide range of CO₂ refrigeration products with various sizes and performances for use in multiple industries," sharing plans to strengthen collaboration with clients in the field of eco-friendly technology and build sustainable partnerships.

As part of its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality and improve energy efficiency, Arneg Korea took a significant first step in October by installing Korea's first retail store CO₂ refrigeration system employing the transcritical cycle, a natural refrigerant, at the Baekyangsa Agricultural Cooperative Hanaro Mart. This initiative aligns with the government's 2050 carbon neutrality goal and meets the industry's demand for environmental protection.
