Arneg Korea Honored as a Model Company in "Corporate Carbon Action"… Receives Citation from Gwangju Metropolitan City
Successes in Reducing Greenhouse Gases… Recognized as a World Leader in Carbon Neutrality
Arneg Korea was selected as a model company in the survey named "Corporate Carbon Action for Achieving 2045 Carbon Neutrality," which was conducted by Gwangju Metropolitan City. At the agreement ceremony on September 8, a citation and a plaque were conferred on the company by the Mayor of Gwangju.
"Corporate Carbon Action" is a program that encourages small- and medium-sized enterprises, which are not subject to mandatory greenhouse gas reduction obligations, to voluntarily participate in reduction activities. Under this initiative, Gwangju Metropolitan City created an emission trading system modeled after the National Emission Trading System (ETS), where companies can conduct mock trading to verify their reduction achievements. This year's evaluation comprehensively reviewed participants’ greenhouse gas reduction performance and implementation efforts.
In 2024 alone, Arneg Korea successfully reduced a total of 113 tons of greenhouse gases. This tangible achievement demonstrates the company's commitment to eco-friendly management through voluntary participation and continuous improvement.
Since entering into an agreement with Gwangju Metropolitan City last year, Arneg Korea has embarked on a range of initiatives, which include monitoring and verifying energy consumption, engaging in quarterly mock carbon credit trading and auctions, and leveraging voluntary greenhouse gas trading mechanisms. Moreover, with the support of the Korea Energy Engineers Association's industrial diagnostic program, the company pinpointed effective on-site reduction strategies and enhanced these efforts with internal campaigns, culminating in significant results in emission reductions.
An Arneg Korea executive commented, "This award demonstrates our dedication to meeting corporate social responsibility by making real greenhouse gas reductions. We will continue to advance our reduction capacity, readying ourselves for a green future, and cooperate closely with the government, local governments, and sectors in demonstrating environmentally-friendly business operations."
